Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about GSE Tools

Getting Started

What is GSE?

GSE (GnomeSequencer-Enhanced) is a World of Warcraft addon that lets you create, share, and execute macro sequences — powerful automation scripts that help you play your character more effectively. Think of it as a way to compress complex rotations into a single button press.

This website is the community hub for GSE: browse thousands of sequences shared by other players, manage your own content, and stay up to date with the latest releases.

How do I get the GSE addon?

GSE is available on CurseForge and Wago. You can also download the latest release directly from the Releases page.

Install it like any other addon — drop the folder into your World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns/ directory and restart your game client.

Do I need to create an account?

No account is required to browse and download public sequences, macros, and variables. Create a free account if you want to upload your own content, access subscriber-only material, or connect to the GSE Companion app.

What is the GSE Companion app?

GSE Companion is a desktop application that bridges this website and your game client. It automatically syncs your installed sequences to your local GSE addon — no more manually copying and pasting macros. Download it from the Releases page.

How do I find sequences for my class?

Head to the Sequences browser and use the Class and Specialization filters to narrow down results. You can also use the Discord bot by typing /gse in any server that has it installed.

Content & Access

What is the difference between Public and Subscriber content?

Public content is available to everyone — no account needed. Any author can make their sequences, macros, and variables publicly visible so the whole community can use them.

Subscriber content is content that an author has chosen to share only with a specific group of people. Authors control exactly who can access their work — it might be a private guild roster, a Patreon supporter tier, or any other group they manage. You need to meet the author's access requirements before you can see or download subscriber sequences.

Can I buy sequences or content on this site?

No purchases are made on this website. GSE Tools does not process payments or sell content of any kind.

Subscriber access is granted entirely by the content author through their own chosen platform — for example, a Patreon membership or a private guild arrangement. If content requires subscriber access, you will need to reach out to the author directly or follow their external link to arrange access.

How do guilds share content with their members?

Guild leaders and officers can upload sequences and mark them as subscriber-only, then add their guild members to the access list. Only listed members can see and download that content. This is a popular way for progression guilds to share their specific rotations privately without making them available to the public.

If your guild leader has mentioned there are private sequences available, ask them to add your GSE account to the access list, or check the author's profile page for instructions.

How do Patreon campaigns work with GSE?

Some content creators run Patreon campaigns and use GSE Tools to give their patrons exclusive access to premium sequences. When an author links a Patreon tier to their GSE content, only active patrons at the required tier can view and sync those sequences.

To access a creator's patron-only content: become a patron at the required tier on their Patreon page, then follow their instructions for connecting your Patreon account to your GSE profile. Each creator manages this process independently — check their author profile page on this site or their Patreon page for the specific steps.

How do I access subscriber content once I have been granted access?

Once an author adds you to their access list, subscriber content will automatically appear in your browse results when you are logged in. If you have just been granted access and content is not showing yet, try logging out and back in.

GSE Tools cannot grant access on behalf of an author — all access decisions are made by the content creator. If you believe you should have access but cannot see the content, contact the author directly.

Supporting GSE

How is GSE funded?

GSE is a volunteer-driven project. The addon, this website, the Companion app, and all the infrastructure that keeps everything running are built and maintained in spare time.

GSE Patron is the community Patreon campaign that keeps this ecosystem alive — covering server costs, development time, and ongoing improvements. If you get value from GSE, consider supporting the project. Every contribution helps ensure GSE continues to improve. You can find the Patreon link on the About Us page.

I found a bug or want to suggest a feature — how do I get in touch?

The best ways to report bugs and suggest improvements are:

  • The GSE Discord server — the fastest way to reach the developer and the wider community.
  • The GitHub repository for the addon or Companion app (linked on the Releases page).
  • The Contact Us page on this site.
I want to share my own sequences — how do I upload content?

Create a free account, then use the Import tool to upload sequences directly from the website. Alternatively, the GSE Companion app can sync sequences automatically from your game client to this site.

Once uploaded you can choose whether to make content public, keep it private, or share it with a specific subscriber group.
